Colson Hicks Eidson would like to congratulate our own Julie Braman Kane for being elected vice president of the American Association for Justice (AAJ). Established in 1946, the AAJ has since expanded from nine plaintiff attorneys involved in workers’ compensation litigation to become the largest trial bar in the world.
The mission of the AAJ and its members—an international collection of attorneys, paralegals, law professors and law students—is to make sure that anyone injured due to the negligence or misconduct of others is afforded their right to obtain justice in an American courtroom.
In addition to this latest accolade, Julie has garnered several awards during her time in the AAJ, including:
- Howard Twiggs Commitment to Justice Award (2012)
- Distinguished Service Award (2005, 2011)
- Women’s Caucus, Marie Lambert Award (2008)
- Joe Tonahill Award (2008)
- Weideman Wysocki Award (2000-2006)
Prior to being elected vice president, Julie has held other positions in the AAJ, including:
- Treasurer
- Parliamentarian
- Past Chair, Women’s Caucus
- Past Chair, Product Liability Section
- Executive committee
Julie was elected vice president in Baltimore, Maryland on Monday, July 28, 2014 at AAJ’s Annual Convention. Julie is in line to be elected president elect in 2015, and if elected, would automatically become president at the 2016 convention in Los Angeles.
