What is interstitial cystitis

Elmiron is the only medication approved to treat interstitial cystitis by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Elmiron (pentosan polysulfate sodium) is typically taken in dosages of 100 mg three times a day. It is thought to work by restoring a thin, leaky, or damages bladder surface.
