Zachary (Zach) A. Lipshultz is a civil litigation attorney at Colson Hicks Eidson. Representing plaintiffs and defendants alike, his practice includes all aspects of civil litigation in state, federal, and arbitral forums, at both the trial and appellate levels. Zachary (Zach) A. Clients turn to Mr. Lipshultz to resolve complex matters involving breach of contract, fraud, business torts, insurance, and corporate governance disputes.
His diverse practice ranges from representing plaintiffs in personal injury and products liability cases to defending foreign clients in federal court under the New York Convention. He is experienced in ERISA litigation and served on the litigation team that prosecuted claims under Title III of the Cuban Liberty and Democratic Solidarity (LIBERTAD) Act of 1996, including the first two cases ever filed under that law, one of which resulted in the entry of four judgments totaling $450 million. In 2024, Mr. Lipshultz obtained a $3 million judgment in a product liability case following a bench trial on damages in federal court. Most recently, Mr. Lipshultz served on a trial team that successfully obtained a complete defense verdict for a real estate firm after a three-and-a-half week jury trial in Broward County, Florida.
Mr. Lipshultz is committed using his legal training to better the south Florida community. He has served as federal court-appointed pro bono counsel in numerous cases, ranging from immigration matters to civil rights actions under section 1983. A steward for the environment, Mr. Lipshultz also regularly advises south Florida non-profits on legal issues touching on water quality and Everglades restoration.
Prior to joining Colson Hicks Eidson, Mr. Lipshultz served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Robert N. Scola, Jr., United States District Judge for the Southern District of Florida. Before that, he worked in the Miami office of a large international law firm.
Mr. Lipshultz received his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law, graduating summa cum laude and Order of the Coif. At the University of Miami, he served as the David P. Catsman Fellow for the Center for Ethics and Public Service, where he co-founded what is now the Environmental Justice Clinic.
