Two bicyclists, husband and wife, were struck on April 23rd while riding near the A1A in Highland beach. Witnesses claim that the couple was riding southbound in the designated bike lane when a red car weaved off the roadway and crashed into them. The driver sustained minor injuries, and the police are waiting for blood tests to see if alcohol was involved.
Both bike riders sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Delray Medical Center. However, the wife succumbed to her injuries after several days in the hospital. She was 69-years-old and served as the vice president of commercial real estate at Emigrant Bank. Her husband sustained serious head injuries and is still recovering.
