We have an update on the Del Rey Beach bicycle accident that we reported on in our blog. The driver suspected of striking a woman who later succumbed to her injuries, is being sued by the family of the victim. The 57-year-old man from Pinellas County is suspected of driving while under the influence of alcohol, prescription drugs and recreational drugs, and the family wants him held accountable for his actions.
In addition to the Pinellas County driver being sued, the victim’s family will sue the woman who owns the 2014 Mazda that he was driving. The case alleges that the Palm Beach County resident had known that the driver was an abuser of prescription medications and that he had drugs in his possession. They claim that this knowledge made her negligent when she let the 57-year-old drive her car.
At the moment, this family mourns the loss of the well-known commercial real estate vice president. Her husband, who was riding next to his wife at the time of the accident and suffered serious injuries, has been released from the hospital and is now recovering. He has to deal with not only the loss of his wife, but with strenuous rehabilitation and large medical bills. He and his family have not waited in their pursuit of restitution, and if you have been injured, you should waste no time.
