CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Feb. 12, 2015) – Colson Hicks Eidson partner Julie Braman Kane recently served as a featured panelist at Miami-Dade Florida Association for Women Lawyers’ third annual Litigation Skills Workshop. The workshop focused on Deposition Skills for Women Lawyers and featured a series of lectures, demonstrations and hands-on training from local judges and leading attorneys.
Kane, a trial attorney and past president of FAWL’s Miami-Dade Chapter, provided insight on “Dealing with Difficult Opposing Counsel During Depositions” and presented alongside a panel of well-known female attorneys with Chief Judge Bertila Soto of the 11th Judicial Circuit, Miami-Dade serving as moderator.
An AV-rated trial lawyer, Kane concentrates her practice on catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death litigation as well as in commercial, class and mass actions. Throughout her 22-year career, she has secured multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements for victims of negligence, including a $38 million verdict in a medical malpractice case.
An advocate of civil justice, Kane currently serves as vice president of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), the world’s largest trial bar and leading defender of civil justice. She has been actively involved with AAJ for more than 20 years. Kane also serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida Justice Association and previously served as a Commissioner on the Florida Elections Commission.
