According to CBS News, on December 23, over 30 passengers in Baldwin Park, California were trapped inside a tour bus after the driver lost control on a freeway. According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, thirteen people were injured in the accident and were transported to a local hospital.
Officials stated that the bus was traveling from a casino in Indio, California. According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened in the early morning hours near the westbound 10 Freeway and Baldwin Park Boulevard off-ramp.
“The bus tried to get on the ramp to exit, but he came too fast. He [couldn’t] control the bus,” a passenger told CBS Station KCBS.
Officials stated that the bus’ door became lodged in the accident after the vehicle collided into and ran over a fence, locking 38 passengers and the driver inside. The trapped persons had to be freed by emergency personnel.
Police officials are still investigating to determine the cause of the crash and why the bus driver lost control of the vehicle.
