Colson Hicks Eidson attorney, Mike Eidson, is representing a man in south Florida who suffered liver failure after taking weight loss drug OxyElite Pro, according to NBC 6 Miami.
The man said his life took a terrible turn after he decided to take the diet supplement to lose weight. The man purchased OxyElite Pro, in powder and pill form, at two separate Vitamin Shoppe outlets.
The man said the weight loss supplement was working and he lost more than 50 pounds when his health took an unexpected downward spiral. After getting medical attention, his lab test results showed that his liver was in complete failure.
The man is now suing The Vitamin Shoppe and USPLabs, the company that makes OxyElite Pro. As we blogged about last week, the US Food and Drug Administration forced USPLabs to recall the product in November; however, Eidson says his client was still able to buy it in Fort Lauderdale after the recall.
“It can cause death. It can cause the need to have your liver replaced. Or it can cause permanent liver damage,” stated Mike Eidson. “And you can see it, when you see my client you can see his eyes, you can see that he’s still suffering the consequences of this and probably will for the rest of his life.”
