According to WISN ABC 12, on October 29, a construction worker died when a residential garage he was working on collapsed on him. The 38-year-old worker was killed while doing construction on a garage in Fox Point, Wisconsin. A second worker was outside of the garage and was not injured.
The Fox Point Police Chief spoke to WISN 12 News, stating that workers were “shoring up” the building when it collapsed. The building permit lists the contractor as MDM Builders, LLC.
Representatives from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the district attorney’s office are investigating the fatal construction accident along with Fox Point Police.
We Represented Victims of the Miami-Dade Garage Collapse in Doral, Florida
Recently, the media has reported a high proportion of employees sustaining catastrophic and often fatal injuries in construction accidents caused by the negligence of their employers throughout the U.S.
We are working closely with several of the surviving family members of four construction workers killed in the Miami-Dade Community College garage collapse that occurred on October 10, 2012. We are aggressively seeking justice for the families affected by this tragedy, naming gross negligence as well as blatant disregard for the lives and safety of hard-working employees. We hope that as a result, other construction companies in the U.S. will place a higher value on creating a workplace free of preventable construction accidents.
The law firm of Colson Hicks Eidson believes that construction workers have the right to be safe while performing their job duties.
