Colson Hicks Eidson is proud to announce that firm partner Curt Miner has been appointed Lead Counsel for Personal Injury Track in the Takata Airbag Products Liability Litigation.
If you have been following our blog, you know that we have been covering the Takata airbag saga for quite some time. For those of you who are new to the story, Honda and multiple other automakers have voluntarily recalled vehicles containing Takata airbags amid allegations that the devices’ inflators can rupture, leading to incidents of exploding airbags, spraying shrapnel at vehicle occupants during auto accidents.
Over 20 million vehicles have been recalled worldwide due to the airbag defect. Link here for a list of the vehicles affected. Six deaths have so far been linked to accidents involving the devices, but Takata itself has yet to issue a recall. In addition, Takata has been less than forthcoming with a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) investigation of its explosive airbags, earning the Japanese auto parts maker a $14,000 a day fine, which may not cease until Takata begins to cooperate with NHTSA investigators.
