A 46-year-old Pensacola man lost his life last week in a three-vehicle car crash on Gulf Beach Highway. The victim was driving his 1972 Volkswagen Beetle around 1 p.m. on Gulf Beach Highway when a Ford pickup truck and a minivan were traveling in the opposite direction. The victim crossed the centerline and collided with the pickup, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
After striking the pickup, the victim’s Beetle spun and hit the front of the minivan. An eyewitness attempted to aid the victim, but the 46-year-old died in his hands. The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries, and her 12-year-old passenger was uninjured in the crash. The minivan driver suffered serious injuries and rescue personnel transported her to a nearby hospital.
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fatal car accident. Authorities do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to the FHP.
