According to The Independent, a passenger on a cruise ship was killed in the English Channel and another airlifted to shore after their vessel was hit by a wave on February 14.
This fatal accident happened aboard the British cruise ship Marco Polo, which is operated by Cruise & Maritime Voyages, as it headed for its homeport following a 42-night voyage. Water broke through a window of the ship, injuring several of the 735 passengers and 349 crew members.
An 85-year-old passenger died after being airlifted off the ship. A woman in her 70s was severely injured and was taken to shore for medical treatment. A number of other passengers received minor injuries and were treated onboard.
