The Goldbergs star, 19-year-old Hayley Orrantia, recently put a young man in ICU with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) after hitting his car at an accelerated speed while she was distracted by her GPS.
The 23-year-old victim alleges that Orrantia ran a red light while checking the GPS on her phone, and then T-boned his vehicle. Intoxication is not believed to have been a factor in the collision.
After the accident, the young man was rushed to a nearby hospital for his multiple injuries, including a TBI, and remained in the ICU for one week. He is currently undergoing rehab.
The injured man’s family is currently asking for donations online to help pay his expensive and mounting medical bills.
Law enforcement stated that 19-year-old young woman was cited for running a red light.
I Have a Traumatic Brain Injury and Need an Injury Lawyer
According to the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA), approximately 1.7 million Americans will sustain a TBI each year. More than 3 million people currently live with ongoing disabilities related to a TBI.
The BIAA reports that car accidents are one of the most common incidents that lead to a TBI diagnosis. When the actions of another person cause you or someone you love a TBI diagnosis, you may have the right to pursue legal action against them.
