Appointment Continues Firm Tradition of Serving the Civil Justice System
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Aug. 30, 2011) – Colson Hicks Eidson partner Julie Braman Kane has been elected as parliamentarian of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), the world’s largest trial bar, at the organization’s annual convention.
Colson Hicks Eidson has a long history with the AAJ (formerly known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America); the firm’s co-founder, Bill Colson, served as president of the association from 1964-1965 and partner, Lewis “Mike” S. Eidson, served as president from 2006-2007.
“I am honored to serve the AAJ as parliamentarian and grateful for the confidence the members have entrusted in me,” said Kane. “I look forward to continuing the firm’s tradition of protecting America’s civil justice system.”
An active member of the AAJ for more than 15 years, Kane has served on the Board of Governors, the Justice PAC Board of Trustees, and the National College of Advocates Board of Trustees. She previously served on the AAJ’s Executive Committee and Budget Committee, and chaired both its Products Liability Section and Women’s Caucus.
Consistently recognized for her leadership in the legal profession and her dedication to community members, consumers and the trial bar, Kane has been a recipient of the Association’s Marie Lambert Award, Joe Tonahill Award, Distinguished Service Award, and Weideman Wysocki Award.
Kane has more than 15 years of experience practicing in areas of personal injury, medical malpractice, products liability, class action and commercial litigation. She is a past president of the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association of Women Lawyers and serves as a Commissioner on the Florida Elections Commission.
