Consumers from across the country are sharing how they experienced hair loss and scalp irritation after using hair products sold by Monat Global. Complaints suggest Monat hair products cause hair loss, thinning hair and scalp sores. Some complaints allege Monat hair loss is permanent.
On its website, Monat Global claims its products provide “awesomely vibrant and healthy hair.” However, customers are claiming the opposite happened when they used Monat hair products. Some of the customers, many of whom are women, shared photographs on social media of the effects they experienced after using the products.
Media outlets have also interviewed women who claim they suffered harm after using Monat products. According to one woman, the damage caused by Monat was so significant that she had to cut off her hair. Another woman in Indiana claimed her hair began to fall out in clumps. She alleges her children also suffered hair and scalp damage from using Monat products.
Monat, which is a South Florida-based multilevel marketing company, has vehemently denied the complaints are accurate. The company has even sued women who complained about its products online.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has received 187 adverse event reports involving Monat hair products. In addition, the Better Business Bureau has received more than 500 complaints about Monat Global. Litigation is pending against the company in relation to these products.
